EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES for the 75th RILEM Week

One of the main purposes of the Educational Activities Committee (EAC) of RILEM is to broaden the education to PhD students and the professional community through the promotion of valuable PhD courses on specific areas.

Taking advantage of the state of the art knowledge that a RILEM Week concentrate, for this 75th anniversary, the EAC of RILEM has established a 5 State of the art PhD Courses program aimed to those individuals currently enrolled in a doctoral program, as means of enhance their training, to become scientists, technologists or professionals in the academy or industry. Master’s degree students and postdocs are welcome to register for these courses.

The advantageous subsidized fee set for students, will allow them to access to:

  • Attendance to the International Conference on Advances in Sustainable Construction Materials and Structures, which will include 5 plenary and 16 keynote conferences, as well as to more than 180 regular talks on eight topics established for the event.
  • Attendance to the doctoral courses of their choice, that will be offered 100% online between August 16 and 28. Each student will have the possibility to attend up to 4 out of 5 courses from the full program, which will be taught by worldwide recognized experts. Master students and potdocs may register as well as long as they produce a support letter from their Advisor/Director/Supervisor, stating that the master student has the knowledge and proficiency to be enrolled in the courses of their choice, or the project in wish the postdoc is involved.
  • Non-RILEM member students will benefit from a one-time-only 3-year RILEM free membership. Postdocs are also eligible for this benefit.
  • Each student that attends at least one PhD Course will be eligible to participate in the student’s poster competition. Postdocs are not considered students for this purpose.

NEW

  • Now it is possible to register only for the online PhD courses, that will take place during the two weeks’ prior the main conference event, without you having to register for the conference. This option will allow students to take up to three courses at a cost of $ 50.00 USD per course, and professionals from the industry at a cost of $ 120.00 USD per course.
  • Each course will require approximately 28 hours of workload, corresponding to 1 ECTS credit (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System). To obtain this credit, students must attend the virtual sessions, and all academic activities (reading assignments, exercises and exam).
